Some tips for poi spinners. |
|
Page 1 of 3 DON"T HURT YOURSELF 1. Don’t try to go fast after mastering the first few moves. The temptation is great and the feeling, extraordinary but you will DEFINITELY hurt yourself if you are still new to spinning and some parts of the body hurt more than others. 2. Cylume sticks on string move much faster than trainer poi do, due to their shape and size. Slow yourself down a notch when practicing with them, for they hurt A LOT more.
3. If possible do your training near a mirror/reflective glass area or have a close friend with good criticism nearby so you can actually “see” yourself doing the moves and correcting mistakes as you make them. I would suggest doing this together with videotaping. While videotaping can give good in-depth review of your performance, you are only able to review after the practice session, when mistakes may have become habits.
